TraceBase Traceability Solution
The main problem InterpreData is trying to solve, primarily through our platform TraceBase, is the lack of trust, transparency, and scientific verification in existing global supply chain and traceability systems.
The core issue is detailed as follows:
- Reliance on Self-Declared Data: Current traceability systems often rely on data that is self-declared by participants, making them vulnerable to fraud, data gaps, and limited transparency.
- Vulnerability to Fraud and Mislabelling: This vulnerability leads to food fraud, counterfeiting, mislabelling, and the substitution of genuine products with cheaper or unverified alternatives. This impacts an estimated one percent of the global food industry and could cost up to US$40 billion annually.
- Need for Stronger Assurances: Global markets and regulatory bodies, such as those enforcing the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and the US FDA’s Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), are increasingly demanding stronger, independently verified assurances of a product’s origin, quality, and production journey.
- Risk of Market Access: Without a trustworthy, scientifically verified system, producers face the risk of losing market access, especially when faced with stringent international standards and environmental scrutiny.
Our solution, TraceBase, addresses this by bridging the gap between laboratory analysis and supply chain management requirements. It integrates scientific evidence (like DNA profiling and chemical/trace elemental fingerprinting) with supply chain systems to provide comprehensive and transparent verification processes.
